Prof Reebye and Dr Carda created Spectra LV Institute from a simple observation:
“Our individual spasticity research will be far more impactful if we work together”
Our story
Having known each other for many years, through congresses, meetings, educational opportunities, Prof Reebye and Dr Carda had discussed each others research extensively.
“We felt connected in many ways, and wanted to create a formal research platform for this connection”
With the creation of ‘Spectra LV Institute’ they brought together their research labs to create a ‘LiVing Lab’; a space where their research, education, and innovation could come together to deepen understanding, elevate practice, and ultimately improve the lives of patients.
“Our work is grounded in rigorous science, but driven by something more human — a commitment to collaboration, curiosity, and meaningful impact.”
With ‘Spectra LV Institute’ Prof Reebye and Dr Carda have built a unique platform that focuses on translational research, ranging from simple everyday questions, to larger more complex challenges. With this research-first focus, they also build and deliver educational programs, learning opportunities, mentorship and support to empower the clinicians who care for people with spasticity.
Spectra LV Institute therefore aims to:
Support scientific inquiry that challenges assumptions and pushes the field forward
Empower colleagues with opportunities to engage in research and education that would not normally be available to them
Design learning experiences that equip students, researchers and healthcare professionals with practical, evidence‑based tools
We are independent and non‑profit
Our values — scientific integrity, patient‑centred impact, collaboration, educational excellence, and stewardship — guide everything we do. They shape how we partner, how we teach, how we conduct research, and how we contribute to the broader movement to strengthen rehabilitation and neurological care worldwide.
“Spectra LV Institute is a research lab that also acts as a platform for collective progress — a place where ideas can be shared, standards raised, and ultimately a place where we can have a positive impact on spasticity care.”
our mission
SPECTRA LV Institute is a spasticity ‘Living lab’ anchored in a robust research platform, dedicated to championing education, clinical translation, and hands-on inquiry across the full spectrum — from practical everyday questions to complex investigational challenges.
At its core, the Thinkubator blends think tank, incubator, and accelerator to unite like-minded scientists and clinicians, transforming shared expertise into real-world impact — a borderless catalyst where teaching and discovery continuously inform each other.
